Volunteering to help The Fund
in any of its various events is a direct, visible
and extremely rewarding commitment to the youth
of our community and to the ultimate health
of our country. The assistance The Fund supplies
helps ease the ever-increasing financial burden
of post-high school education.
Assistance of all sorts is welcomed
including direct participation in the Fourth
of July fireworks helping with parking, ticket-taking
and at the concession booths. The Fund conducts
a telephone campaign in support of our annual
Spring event and volunteers are always needed
to make phone calls. Breakfast with Santa requires
aid in manning (or womaning) our holiday shop.
An especially gratifying activity
is to serve on the Selection Committee that
interviews the applicants. These students never
fail to impress this panel with their enthusiasm,
their drive and accomplishments and their vision
for the future. No one who has served on this
board has come away unmoved.
The Fund welcomes both individuals
as well as organizations such as, Scout troops
and local service organizations.
Some people, companies and organizations
are in a position to contribute financially
as well as individually and, of course, this
type of support is always needed. Several companies
donate food to various activities, including
our art shows.
Finally, The Fund is managed
by a Board of Governors drawn from the Radnor
community. The Board meets once a month (except
during the summer) and has responsibility for
all the activities that The Fund runs. If you
want a hands-on experience in helping to make
a tangible contribution to our community, this
is the place for you.
To volunteer, please call the
President of The Fund, Arthur Lewis, at 610
688-4144.
